Meet Isabelle and Henry

We managed first pick of the males from one litter and first pick of the females from the second litter. Picking a forever friend is the hardest thing, as many of you know. Each puppy had amazing qualities, and deciding among the males was difficult. But, in the end, Henry won our hearts with his expressive face, his bold chest, his build and his coloring. The fact is, Henry picked Joey by bounding in the door and landing squarely in her lap.

Isabelle was more reserved but warmed up quickly. She is more feminine in build, darker in color and her big, beautiful eyes don’t miss a thing. She instantly decided she would be the Alpha of the pair, and Henry doesn’t seem to mind.

At 8-weeks-old they weigh in around 30 pounds, Isabelle a little less, and by 16-weeks will weigh about 60 to 70 pounds. They are like every other puppy, into everything, testing the limits and learning all the rules, but they make us smile at least 100 times a day. The Retrievers aren’t sure what to make of them just yet, and I imagine as they grow to nearly 200 pounds and stand on their hind legs more than 6 feet tall, it will make for some great photographs over the years between the Retrievers and the Wolfhounds.
